In celebration of Women’s History Month, we recognize the Women Religious Archives Collaborative (WRAC) and its mission to preserve the legacy of Catholic sisters in the U.S. Founded in 2022, WRAC helps congregations preserve their archives, ensuring the history of women religious—who have shaped education, healthcare, and social justice—is not lost.
Under the leadership of Sister Susan Durkin, OSU, WRAC is working to establish the Women Religious Heritage Center in Cleveland. With over 20 years of fundraising experience, including overseeing a $22 million development for the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, Sister Durkin is dedicated to preserving the archives of over 75 congregations. The Heritage Center will provide a permanent space for these invaluable records, offering access to research, exhibits, and educational programming that will ensure these legacies are safeguarded for future generations.
The Heritage Center, with a goal to open in 2026, will be a pivotal space for preserving the histories of women religious. With the support of generous donors, WRAC will ensure these legacies are shared and celebrated for generations to come.
