Recognizing the Sisters of Mercy

Recognizing the Sisters of Mercy

As Women’s History Month continues, we take this opportunity during Catholic Sisters Week to honor the inspiring leadership and dedication of the Sisters of Mercy. Their commitment to work with those seeking a more just and inclusive world has transformed countless lives.

We are especially privileged to work with the Institute Leadership Team. Sister Susan Sanders, RSM, Institute President, has led in public policy, education, and mission integration, advancing justice and advocacy through her lifelong work. Sister Patricia Flynn, RSM, has dedicated her life to education and pastoral ministry, shaping both academic and faith communities. Sister Judith Frikker, RSM, a physician and lifelong leader, spent 12 years providing medical care in Chile and continues to advocate for compassionate healthcare. Sister Maureen King, RSM, has devoted her career to human resources and social service ministries, ensuring vulnerable populations receive the care they need. Sister Teresa Bednarz, RSM, an educator and social justice advocate, has developed service-learning programs and theological studies to inspire change. The work of these women continues the legacy of their Founder, Catherine McAuley—responding to the needs of the times with compassion and courage. We are truly grateful for the privilege to advocate on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy who are shaping a more just and merciful world.
