Recognizing the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago

Airdo Werwas, LLC
As Women’s History Month continues, we take this opportunity during Catholic Sisters Week to recognize the dedication of religious women who have devoted themselves to serving others and upholding the faith. The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have demonstrated a deep commitment to faith, service, and compassion. For generations, they have dedicated their lives to uplifting communities, caring for the most vulnerable, and carrying forward the mission of their foundress, Venerable Mother Theresa Dudzik. It was this group of amazing women who opened the first home for the aged, in honor of St. Joseph, and was the precursor for what we now call skilled care facilities, or “nursing homes.”

We especially honor Sister M. Bernadette Bajuscik, OSF, Sister Jeanne Marie Toriskie, OSF, and Sister M. Helene Galuszka, OSF, for their profound contributions. Sister Jeanne Marie Toriskie has played a vital role in the beautification process for Mother Theresa Dudzik, ensuring that her legacy of resilience, service, and devotion continues to inspire future generations. Through their collective efforts, these Sisters exemplify the Franciscan values of humility, compassion, and faith in action, leaving a lasting impact on all those they serve. We are truly honored to work alongside such dedicated and selfless women. We thank you!
