Ms. Zeiger’s practice is concentrated on insurance coverage litigation and appellate practice. She has represented insurers, insureds, agents, and brokers in a wide variety of coverage disputes raised under commercial general liability, excess, umbrella, wrap-up, builders risk, OCP, professional liability, property, homeowners, business auto, personal auto, garage, truckers, workers compensation/employers liability, and title policies. Her work includes advice and handling of coverage litigation regarding policy language, statutory requirements, tender issues, additional insured endorsements, construction defect claims, mold claims, pollution claims, self-insured retentions, exhaustion, professional liability claims, rescission and underwriting issues, and issues under the Illinois Insurance Guaranty Fund Act.
She successfully persuaded the Illinois Appellate Court to accept the targeted tender doctrine in Institute of London Underwriters v. Hartford Fire Ins. Co., 234 Ill.App.3d 70, 599 N.E. 1311 (1st Dist 1992), and has lectured on targeted tenders for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and The Insurance School of Chicago. Her extensive insurance coverage career includes in-house experience for an insurer resolving coverage questions, supervising bad faith litigation and developing policy language, followed by decades in private practice litigating insurance disputes.
A graduate of Washington University School of Law (J.D. 1979) and the University of Iowa (B.S. 1975), Jeanne was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1979. She is also admitted to practice in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
